Man Charged With Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment In Secaucus

A North Brunswick man was arrested Friday on charges he committed sexual assault and other offenses in a Secaucus park earlier this month, Capt. Dennis Miller of the Secaucus Police Department said.

Police were called to Buchmuller Park July 5 to investigate a report of a male committing lewd acts. The man had fled when a park worker approached him, Miller said. 

Evidence was collected at the scene and the man as well as his vehicle were recorded on surveillance video, leading to his arrest at the Harmon Meadow Plaza Friday, Miller said . 

Rizwan Ashraf, 35, was charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held in Hudson County jail pending a court appearance. 

Miller declined to provide additional information about the charges against Ashraf.
